“Doing it all” keeps women from claiming their power
Women are magnificent.
Our strength is formidable having within it the power of creation itself.
We have learned to adapt and survive in a system not built by us or for us. And because we are so capable of getting work done and taking care of everyone we don’t realize what the cost is to our health, our needs, and our desires.
I was always secretly a bit proud of my ability to juggle my family of four, my work, my marriage. I am good at managing multiple variables in service to getting shit done.
You know that Enjoli ad from the 70s, “I can bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan” that glamorized that women could do it all, that could have been my anthem, except I know it’s a dangerous lie.
It is so clear in hindsight that working full-time, commuting 3 hours, trying to be successful in a role that didn’t fit left me:
Exhausted
Not present to myself or my family
Ineffective
Unclear on what I truly desired and unable to gain momentum in figuring that out
Women are not jugglers, just because we can keep all the balls in the air, doesn’t mean we should. We become distracted by keeping our eyes on the ball instead of standing in our power, being honest about what is not working or sustainable, and creating change.
COVID has rocked us to the core, pushed us to new edges, forced us to reevaluate everything, and perhaps it is the collective catalyst that was needed to create a new reality.
We are at a pivotal point where we can:
Go back to what was.
Rush into creating a new normal
Ground and go deep and connect within and with others to create a new reality for ourselves and the world
Let’s stop glamorizing our ability to juggle, and instead stand in our incredible feminine power to birth something new.
Remember we always have the power of choice. If we all start choosing in alignment with our feminine wisdom and power we will cumulatively create a tidal wave of change.
Take a moment to pause. Put your hand on your heart. Take a deep breath and ask your wise self.
What have I had enough of?
What is no longer sustainable for this planet or the people on it?
