You don’t need a ‘passion’ to drive your reinvention

Are you feeling the desire to reinvent in midlife, but are stuck because you don’t know your passion and purpose?

If you are feeling overwhelmed by trying to find your passion and purpose here’s why:

Our culture signs a certain singularity associated with our passion or purpose.

The assumption that there is this one truth

It arrives one day fully formed.

We are totally obsessed with it

It drives everything we do

It shapes our life

This does happen for some, but for  most of us it’s not how it works

We become paralyzed by our inability to define our one true passion.

When we’re young we explore many interests, kids are naturally multi-passionate, but then we’re expected to specialize so that we can choose our educational path and then our career. Then we pile on the responsibility of a mortgage and raising our families. Our passion is conditioned right out of us.

If this sounds familiar and you have spent the past 20 years following the expected path and taking care of everyone else and now you’re supposed to know your passion and purpose you might think:

“Passion would be nice, but I don’t have time to do the navel staring to figure that shit out.”

So you stay stuck and tell yourself.

The status quo is fine, things are ‘good enough’, I should just be grateful for all that I have.

But then you lay awake all night or find yourself crying for no reason in the carpool line or pouring that extra glass of wine each night.

If you’re feeling like you want to reinvent yourself, but can’t because you don’t know your passion and purpose, I’ve got you.
